I am part-time carer for my father who has dementia. I am helped by paid carers. He lives in a warden-assisted bungalow and, at 89, is physically very fit but without real interests. He goes for walks on his own,does not get lost but wanders into the bank, pub, health centre etc not knowing why he is there or what his name is. They have my phone number so call me.
I would like to persaude him to go into respite so I can have a proper holiday free from constant worry about what he is doing. He rejects this idea totally
