Don't stay down in the dumps for long!
"Don't stay down in the dumps, come out with me" ... my long-term Carer Buddy said to me last week. I preferred at the time to curl up under the duvet, ignore the world and let my caring responsibilities take hold ..... but, ah no, there was no way I was going to get away with that.
I can't stress enough, the importance of getting out there and meeting up with people who are in the same position as YOU, who understand, emphathise, but most importantly who don't listen to your comments that you really don't mean, "oh, I'm alright, don't want to burden you with my troubles" .... my Carer Buddy is a real life-saver and picks me up when I am down and like-wise I do the same in return. So you Carers out there who are struggling on alone, DONT, meet up with Carer Buddies who are in the same boat and use this website too, cos it has enriched my life having other people I can turn to at the difficult times and also being able to find humour out of a challenging situation and laugh out loud at some of the toughest moments that come along to test us and laughter is so good for the soul ...!!
I hope this has helped in some way to realise that Carers can have a life and get out there and enjoy themselves to and that WE ARE NOT ALONE in our quest to be the very best at what we do ... we can't all be stoical and stiff upper lip all the time ...... brute honestly with a close Carer Buddy that understands can uplift us and help us through the toughest, challenging moments in our Caring Roles.
And if you haven't done so already, get up off that sofa and SEARCH for that CARER BUDDY ...... do it TODAY!! no time like the present!!
Cheerio for now,
